I debated heavily whether or not I should mention the TaylorMade SLDR driver’s feel in the “First Impressions” section. Its shape is fairly traditional in the 430 configuration and just a larger footprint of the same in the 460. As you view the SLDR from the standard address position, the crown has a fairly simple metal flake almost gunmetal finish. This sole was tastefully executed from an aesthetic meets technology perspective, but there’s definitely a lot going on. My first impression of the TaylorMade SLDR driver was clearly the mechanical, almost robotic looking sole. The TaylorMade SLDR driver was available in both 430cc and 460cc head sizes. For others, it helped tune a draw or fade for a more optimal ball flight. For some, this helped combat a slice or hook. By sliding the weight toward the heel or toe you were able to make the club more or less biased in any direction. We would probably prefer the R11S over the RBZ Tour, which is also cheaper, so this is really going to come down to personal preference and how much adjustability you want in a driver. The TalyorMade SLDR driver was innovative when it came out because of its sliding weight to help players fine tune their ball flight. The standard driver looks better, sounds better and is cheaper. With the previous Burner Superfast model we preferred the TP version over the standard version, but with theTaylorMade Rocketballz driver it is the other way round. However we don't feel it looks as good and the sound is much more of a high pitched clunk, which is disappointing in what is supposed to be a better player premium driver.

This does give it a lower, more penetrating flight, which is better. Secondly the head is a different shape that is taller and more triangular than the standard version.

However that is where the similarity ends.įirstly the shaft is an inch shorter and is a much stiffer and better quality Matrix shaft than the standard version, but this comes at a price. The TaylorMade RBZ Rocketballz Tour Driver is similar in features to the standard RBZ driver so it has the adjustable hosel and the same white paint job.
